Butch partying

Butch partying

I just learned that my friend Butch just passed away this morning.  This man has been a great influence on many people and many attribute them being alive to Butch.

The hundreds of true friends that he has left behind will miss him, and to hear his gruff voice each morning will leave a void in many lives.  But as he always said, “If you not moving forward, you gotta be moving backwards.”

Warning to all Patch Holders

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

This was sent to all COC members in Denver Area

BE AWARE OF THIS

Sent to me by Gringo Mark:

Our brother Korey got pulled over last night on 84th and Pecos. Needless to say he had to spend a couple of hours in the pokey due to an outstanding traffic warrant.

This is what the Adams County sheriff’s deputy told him:

For the next two weeks during the DNC in Denver:

1) Any patch holder cruising through the Denver Metro area will get pulled over and they will run a check on your license. No reason, or cause needed other than we are considered to be part of extremist organization. This is part of a Homeland security measure, no probable cause is needed or required.

2) The Sheriff’s Deputy also stated that we pass on to all out brothers to stay clear of Denver during the DNC. Again, they will absolutely pull any and all patch holders over and run them through an on the spot background check.

The deputy offered this as a fair warning and advised us to stay low for the next two weeks

R06 Bamboo Motorcycle Helmet

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Making a motorcycle helmet out of bamboo sounds like a crazy idea, but it’s been done and amazingly has passed all fo the European E22/05 safety requirements for use on the road.  It’s amazing, but it offers the full protection of any other helmet ( not available in full face ) and reduces the dependance on plastics and other environmentally unfriendly manufacturing processes.  Pricewise it fits right in with many other helmets at $399 but is a little pricey for a non full face helmet.  If you want to go green here’s a way to do it….

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CONTINUES ON HELMET ISSUES.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

THE POINT OF VIEW FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN.
American Journal of Health. June 2008
Staggeringly obvious to the rest of the world, but the USA seems to need this stuff pointed out to them. Following the repeal of the motorcycle helmet law in Pennsylvania, there has been a 32 percent increase in head injury deaths and a 42 percent increase in head injury-related hospitalisations.

Following the repeal in 2003, helmet use by motorcyclists involved in reported crashes decreased from 82 percent to 58 percent in the two years following.

Under the current law, only motorcyclists under 21 and riders with less than two years experience who have not taken a safety course are required to wear helmets.

“Our findings strengthen the argument for more comprehensive helmet laws that help protect riders and lower the cost of health care,” said Hank Weiss, Ph.D., M.P.H., study co-author and associate professor, Department of Neurological Surgery, Center for Injury Research and Control, University of Pittsburgh.

The study is to be published in the August issue of the American Journal of Public Health/World Health Organization.
