With winter coming on us quick I was reading in the book Proficient Motorcycling some last night about riding in the wind. While we all talk about being in the wind, we have to remember that the wind can also cause us problems. Those days when the wind seems to be blowing at a direct 90 degree angle to our direction of travel can really get my attention. In this book the author (David Hough) talks about the "sails" that are formed by us, our passengers, our bikes and our luggage. He mentions how important it is to understand the sail that you have when in the wind and what effects it will have on your motorcycle. Remember when we ride in the winter we tend to be out there in more wind than usual. The wind will want to tend to blow us over, so be aware and be careful. Any stories that are sent in will be included on the site and probably sent out to all of you on the newsletter. Since winter is here, lets share stories so at least we can think about riding.
